AntiqScan (“the app”, “we”) is an iOS app, operated by an independent developer, that identifies antiques and collectibles from photos and estimates their value. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. Questions or requests: contact@antiqscan.com.
Data we collect
Photos you scan
When you scan an item, the photo is uploaded to our server and analyzed to identify the item and estimate its value. If you save the result to your collection, the photo and its appraisal are stored in private storage until you delete the item or ask us to delete your data. Photos from scans you do not save are not kept.
Anonymous account
The app creates an anonymous account on first launch, identified only by a random token stored on your device. We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, or contact details. If you email support, we see the address you write from and use it only to reply.
Onboarding answers and subscription status
Your answers to the short setup questionnaire and your subscription status (active or not, and which plan) are stored with your anonymous account so the app works correctly. Payments themselves are processed entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details.
How photos are processed
To identify an item, your photo is sent to third-party AI and search services acting as our processors:
- AI analysis — OpenAI and/or Google (Gemini, Cloud Vision), which analyze the photo to identify the item.
- Visual search — SerpAPI (Google Lens results), used to find visually similar listings. For this step the photo may be temporarily hosted at an unguessable public URL so the search engine can fetch it; that copy is deleted as soon as the search completes.
These providers process the photo to deliver the scan result. We do not sell your photos or use them for advertising.
Other service providers
- Apple — handles all payments and subscriptions.
- Superwall — powers the subscription screen and receives subscription events (linked to your anonymous account id, not your identity).
- Railway — hosts our server, database, and photo storage.
We do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps.
Data retention and deletion
Items you save (photo + appraisal) are kept until you delete them in the app. You can request deletion of your entire account and all associated data at any time by emailing contact@antiqscan.com — deletion is completed within 30 days.
Security
All traffic between the app and our server uses HTTPS. Photos are stored in a private bucket, and account tokens are stored hashed on our server and in the iOS Keychain on your device.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Email us and we will honor these requests for all users regardless of location.
Children
AntiqScan is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, the new version will be posted here with an updated date.
